Overcoming Money Shame

Overcoming Money Shame

Shame is something we all carry, especially around money. But hardly anyone talks about it. For so many of us, it feels almost automatic: talking about money comes wrapped in a thick cloak of shame. The truth is, most people never got a real education about money, so when questions or struggles show up, we’re left feeling lost and alone. That’s where shame seeps in: quietly, unexpectedly, often leaving us unsure how to move forward.

Money shame can show up in everyday life as that pit-in-your-stomach feeling when the bills pile up, calls go unreturned, or when you find yourself hesitating to open up about your financial reality - even to those closest to you.

But here’s something you need to know: financial counseling is a shame-free zone. When you work with me, there’s no judgment. Only support and real understanding. We start wherever you are in your unique financial journey and figure out next steps together. My goal? To see you thrive and discover confidence with your money.

In my practice, I help people look beneath the surface of their money choices. Especially when it’s hard to let go of money or hard to hold onto it. We dig into the patterns, untangle old cycles, and create new habits that actually fit your values. Money is meant to help you live well and enjoy life - not hoarded or feared.

Unlike traditional financial advisors or CFPs, financial counselors are all about uncovering the root causes behind your relationship with money. We walk by your side, teaching you the skills and practical know-how you need to make choices with clarity and peace of mind.

If you ever feel yourself slipping into a shame spiral because money feels overwhelming (trust me, it can for all of us), please remember you don’t have to do it alone.
